Drexel Dance Senior Projects: Dawn of Self - Work by Grace Fisher, Aria Iuso and India Scott

Grace will be creating a choreographic work exploring how the Apollonian-Dionysian divide described in Nietzsche’s The Birth of Tragedy can be expressed through movement. Aria is exploring the impacts of Bella Lewitzky in modern dance, particularly through the evolution of the Horton Technique. She will choreograph a piece through a feminist lens that is based on her findings. India will be looking into the concept of Lesbian Existence through different forms of literature and media, as well as feminist performance art resulting in choreographic work.

Join us for an AMAZING One-Night Only event in the Pearlstein Gallery located inside of the URBN Annex Building on Tuesday June 11!

In a world where fashion and sustainability intertwine, students from the Design and Merchandising Program will showcase a diverse range of creative projects, business plans, and research at their upcoming senior show.

From sustainable leather alternatives to an innovative resale program, they will explore novel solutions for a more sustainable and inclusive future. Research will examine body positivity on the runway, while a sustainable collection for Selkie will demonstrate the harmonious coexistence of style and sustainability. Business plans, such as Earthminds, will propose strategies to educate and inspire change.

Research will investigate the impact of meaningful events on local retailers, the evolution of fashion brand storytelling, consumer insights, 3D design, the symbiotic relationship between film and fashion, micro influencers, and immersive retail experiences as key drivers of emotional connection. Studies on equitable haircare and the rise of social media authenticity will challenge conventional notions of beauty.

Through their passion, creativity, and commitment to sustainability, these future leaders will demonstrate the transformative power of knowledge and shared vision for a better tomorrow in the fashion industry. Attendees can expect to be inspired by the innovative ideas and groundbreaking solutions presented at this eagerly anticipated senior show.

The Interior Design Student Exhibition is a gala style event showcasing students' portfolio of work throughout their four years in the Interior Design Program. The showcase is a testament to the students' commitment to solving world issues through innovative design solutions, and bettering communities and their world in an inclusive and equitable manner. Students select the work to be displayed, carefully chosen from studio projects, visualization technique courses, custom designed and fabricated furniture as well as fine art and sculpture. Students' project work evidence deep and meaningful research, thought provoking development of design, spectacular imagery, and the creative solving of societal issues. Senior Projects, a yearlong study of a project of the student's choice, are particularly exciting.

All are welcome to join this tight knit group in celebrating the vastness of their work to family members, friends, Westphal faculty, alumni, industry professionals, and the entire community. The Student Exhibition also allows the seniors one last celebration before venturing into new and exciting paths, changing the world through design!
